| Falkirk Burns Supper. Sharon McGuire and Laura Craig joined Alex Totten as he donned his famous Falkirk highland regalia ahead of Saturday's Oor Wullie Tartan Scarf. The Broons Tartan Scarf. Not to be outdone by Oor Wullie whose own tartan launched in November 2010, Scotland’s first family, The Broons, have commissioned their own tartan. After collaborating with tartan experts to trace their ancestry, a tartan has been created which incorporates the rich heritage of the Broons family. The Broons forbears, Le Bruns, arrived in Britain with the Norman Conquest. This family overthrew their liege lord and moved to Scotland in an act known as Le Brun Coup. They settled in the land of the MacGregors who called them Broons. Led by the famous Red MacGregor they became expert dealers in pre-owned cattle. This new tartan takes the brown from their famous name, the green from the wild clan country, the red and gold from the shield of the Duchy of Normandy, their distant Gallic cousins. The black line signifies their illustrated exploits that have appeared in The Sunday Post for 75 years. The first product using the new tartan is this 100% lambswool scarf produced by tartan specialists House of Edgar. The scarf is the 'very dab' to protect you from those chilly winter winds. New addition to 'Destiny' range.
This is a first look at the newest addition to our already popular & self designed 'Destiny' range of tartans. We have yet to confirm the full name of this tartan, but more importantly, it will be available to hire or buy from mid March 2011. Made especially for Auchenshoogle’s most famous wee rascal, these 100% lambswool scarves have been produced by tartan specialists House of Edgar and make the perfect exclusive gift for friends or family (or yourself!). The tartan is based on the Black Watch, which was Wullie’s Uncle Wattie’s regiment. All of the colours in the tartan are important to Wullie including the silver grey which signifies Wullie’s bucket and his faithful pet, Jeemie the moose. The black colour is for Wullie’s mentor, PC Murdoch and the yellow is for his tousled gold locks that never see a comb!
